WordPress 2.8.5: Hardening Release

I am great fan of WordPress and I am working on it most of the time. Must of use have been hearing and working on with the security loops and hacks with version below 2.8.3. So, they release WordPress version 2.8.4 as the Security Release on August 12, 2009. Which solved most of the security issues and I did a research and write an article about WordPress Security Tips and I have told that most important part to make your WordPress site secure is to Upgrade to the latest version. So, I would like to recommend that all sites are upgraded to this new version of WordPress to ensure that you have the best available protection.

It’s not even 2 months time and they release new WordPress version 2.8.5 as Hardening Release

The headline changes in this release are:

  • A fix for the Trackback Denial-of-Service attack that is currently being seen.
  • Removal of areas within the code where php code in variables was evaluated.
  • Switched the file upload functionality to be whitelisted for all users including Admins.
  • Retiring of the two importers of Tag data from old plugins.
